The costs given above are for the first year of the course.
This course provides learners with the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification to enter employment as a dental technician. It is also suitable for trainee Dental Technicians aged 16-18.
Course content:
- Dental anatomy, oral biology and disease
- Basic dental biomaterials
- Legislation, professionalism and ethics in dentistry
- Medical emergencies and first aid
- Safe working practice and cross infection control
- Complete and partial prosthodontics
- Dental radiology and dental imaging
- Fixed prosthodontics
- Dental technology techniques
Please note: To increase your future employment prospects learners on the full-time option will be expected to find a work experience placement in a registered dental laboratory, ideally for one day a week in the first year and two days a week in the second year.
After this course: Higher Education or employment and registration with the General Dental Council.
Full time:
Students need to have 4 GCSE passes (Grades A* - D) in English, Maths, Science and one other.
You will be required to attend an interview and sit and pass the college manual dexterity test.
Part time:
You should have the above and need to be employed in a dental laboratory.
