This course provides learners with the opportunity to develop practical skills, knowledge and training in child care to prepare for progression to higher level study or employment. Work experience is a mandatory part of the course.
Course content:
- Introduction to communication in children and young people's settings
- Introduction to personal development
- Introduction to equality and inclusion
- Child and young person development
- Contribution to health and safety
- Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people
- Managing paediatric illness and injury
After this course: Progression to level 3 qualification or employment
2 GCSE passes (Grade A* - D) or a level 1 vocational qualification, and English and Maths at level 1 in the initial College assessment.
A Criminal Record Declaration on enrolment, a CRB check and 2 references are required.
