Money Matters for Young People

Money Matters for 16-18s

Do not be put off applying to college because of money worries.

New students starting in 2013/14 may be eligible for a Student Bursary Grant of up to £300 a year. If you are in care or leaving care, in receipt of income support or are disabled and in receipt of Employment and Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance you will be eligible for a guaranteed payment of £1,200 over the academic year from the Student Bursary Grant.

If you are a young parent aged under 20 at the start of the course, you are eligible to apply for ‘Care to Learn’ free childcare (£175 per week paid to an Ofsted registered nursery or childminder). If you are a young parent aged over 20 we may also be able to help you through our general childcare fund.

Do not forget: if you are aged under 19, or eligible for fee remission, your course is FREE at Lambeth College and there are no hidden charges for exams, books or extra tuition. Many of our enrichment activities are free too. If you are under 19 or on a full-time course you can get free travel on buses and trams with your photo Oyster Card.
