Fees
The fee for each course is given on the course details pages, accessible via the course lists. If you are considering a two-year course, the amount indicated is for each year.
Unlike many other colleges, we will not ask you for further payments through the year for things like examination entries - this is the total cost.
These are the fees set at the moment - the College retains the right to vary them if necessary.
Not everyone has to pay course fees:
- Most courses are free if you are under 19 on 1 September unless you are an international student. If you are an international student please click here for fees information.
- In most cases a £30 administration charge is all you will need to pay if you are over 19 and receiving certain means-tested benefits or are dependent on someone who is.
- Home students applying for most Adult Basic Education courses will not have to pay anything.
Instalments
In most cases if the fee for your course is £380 or more (home students) or £1490 (international students) arrangements can be made for you to pay in two instalments. you will be expected to pay 60% on enrolment and the remaining 40% before 31st January.
Please note however that, if you wish to pay in two instalments, an additional charge of 5% of the total course fee will be payable with the second instalment.
Payment methods
We are able to accept:
- Cash
- Cheques (with a cheque guarantee card)
- Credit/Debit cards (except American Express)
If your fees are being paid by your employer/sponsor, you will need to provide a letter from them explaining that they intend to pay. The College will then invoice them.
If you are applying from overseas, payment must be via Sterling Banker's Draft, drawn on a UK bank or by crossed International Money Order.
Fee refunds
The College is only able to refund fees in certain circumstances. These are:
- if the course is cancelled or the date or time changes and you are no longer able to attend
- if there has been a mistake in the actual fee charged (bearing in mind our right to vary fees if necessary)
- if illness prevents your attendance
- if you are an international student and have had your visa application refused.
Other situations, perhaps of a personal nature, may also be considered in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the College.
The £30 administration charge is not refundable and a small (around 5%) refund fee will be levied.
Financial help
Financial assistance only applies to eligible home students. We are unable to assist international students.
People on low incomes
You may be eligible to pay a reduced fee if you are:
- a home student
- aged 19 or over
- accepted on to a course where the fees are £360 or more
And either:
- on a low income of £250 (net) per week (plus £50 for each child)
- unemployed but not eligible for concessionary fees because you are dependent on a partner who is on a low income
Financial help when you are on your course
Money is available for some home students to help with travel and child care. We can also advise on charities and other organisations that may give you financial help.
